Historic Rally Podcast – Sample Episode
We’re trying something new.
We’re hoping to be able to produce a regular podcast covering the Rally happenings around the UK. Seeing as we’ve been to the first 2 rounds of the BHRC, we figured that would be a good place to start.
Below is a sample of the kind of thing we are planning. The footage in this episode comes from Last Week’s Pirelli International Rally in Carlisle.
Please let us know what you think either in the comments or via email (see the post about the new Home for RallyUpdate- below).

Update: We’re trying out an embedded player, click on the player image to start the video and let us know what you think (it might take a moment to start playing, depending on your connection speed).
The player shows the file smaller than actual size. You can download the full file, which is 640x360px. (It’s 100MB though). Right-Click the “Download” link under the player to save the linked file. It’s an MP4 and should be iPod ready.
Welcome to the new RallyUpdate.com site
Welcome to RallyUpdate.com
We hope to be publishing video and photos from the 2007 and 2008 UK Rally seasons that you can watch here, and as podcasts that you can download.
Read our blog to keep up to date with how things are progressing.
(Please excuse the appearance – We thought we’d put something a bit more interesting up here rather than the usual “Coming Soon” or “Under Construction”, so things will be changing)
Meanwhile:
- If you are an event organiser and want us to feature your event, contact us at events@rallyupdate.com
- If you’re a driver or a team and want us to feature you, drop us a line at teams@rallyupdate.com
- If you have photos or video you would like us to publish here, or you have any questions, drop us a line at studio@rallyupdate.com - we’d love to hear from you.
Thanks,
The RallyUpdate Team
Off to the Pirelli 2008 – See you there
We’re just loading up the gear and heading off to Carlisle for the Pirelli 2008.
We’ll mostly be after coverage of the British Historic Rally Championships round, but while we’re there we’ll see what we can see.
Hope to see you there, but don’t worry if you don’t make it, just check back here and we’ll be posting our footage as soon as we get back.
Moving home
RallyUpdate.com is live. Welcome to our new home!
We decided that we would move all of our rally related work from our main site at OSGmedia.com and give it a home of its own here at RallyUpdate.com
After our work last year at the British Rally Championships following a team through the season, we decided to put our experience to good use and start publishing regular video content from the British Rally scene.
This year, we’re after more than before. We’re still aiming for riveting in-car with our great mini cameras, but we’re also after interviews with the drivers and their teams, with more info about the cars too.
To handle all this extra footage, we’ve set up RallyUpdate.com as the home for the various “programmes” that we plan to produce.
To make sure our programmes reach the widest audience, we’ll be using various bits of technology to keep everyone updated.
- We’ll be setting up an Email list for you to subscribe to, so that we can let you know when there’s new things to see
- We’ll be posting clips on YouTube as a taster
- and, our favourite, we’ll be publishing Video Podcasts, so you can have your favourite clips with you at all times
We hope you enjoy following along with us through the year. Do let us know what you think, and if you see us trackside, say “hi” (just don’t get your woolly hat in the shot!).
The RallyUpdate Team.
Robin Hood Historic Forest Stages 2008
After the great time we had following the historic rally cars around at Grizedale last year, we thought we’d give it another go a little closer to home.
This weekend we went to the Robin Hood Historic Stages Rally, in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire. Specifically we went to the Forest Stages.
The Robin Hood Stages are the first round of the BHRC Historic Rally Championships.
Sadly, there was no spectator access to the Night Stages on Saturday, so we only got in to the Sunday Stages. Even so, we had a great time watching some classic cars putting in some fantastic times.
As you can see from the photo, Richard Hill and Pat Cooper were on good form, Putting in the Overall joint fastest time of the competition in their 4-door Escort, equal with Martin McCormack and Liam Moynihan.
As we didn’t have the full video gear with us, we thought we’d try something different. So we’ve uploaded a video slideshow to the OSGmedia YouTube page.
Back from Grizedale
Congratulations to David Bogie and David Patterson on their win this weekend.
We had a fantastic time in Coniston in the Lake District, despite the weather (there wasn’t a dry bit of kit for miles). The event was very enjoyable, and the organisers, marshals and locals were all very friendly and helpful. One competitor was even kind enough to supply us with In-Car footage, as we were unable to find a car to carry our gear at such short notice (thanks to Paul Miller of MTP Media for that).
The clip, as always, is available on the OSGmedia YouTube page, at: www.youtube.com/osgmedia
Off to the Lake District for a Quiet Weekend – NOT
We’re off to the Grizedale Stages this weekend. A bit last-minute, but it looks like a laugh. The folks who run the event are REALLY friendly, so pop along if you’re nearby and give it a look.
We’ll be working on the RAC clips until we leave, and hopefully we’ll have some samples up soon after the Grizedale event too.
Keep an eye on our OSGmedia YouTube page for Video updates from the event.
YouTube a Go-Go
Just a quick note to let you know that we have set up an OSGmedia YouTube account, where we will be posting clips from the In Car Video that we are collecting.
Find us at http://www.youtube.com/osgmedia
First up will be samples from the Roger Albert Clark Rally, but we also have some good stuff from our work at the BRC Rounds earlier in the year.
Roger Albert Clark 2007 – In Car Footage
We went to the Roger Albert Clark 2007 for two reasons – 1) because we love to go to Rallys, to take photos and shoot video, and 2) because we fitted a state of the art in-car video system to the RHMotors car (the yellow 4-door escort, car 51), so we had an excuse to do 1).
We just finished reviewing the footage, and we’ve got video from 22 of the 28 stages, including the legendary Kielder.
That works out at over 2 hours of eye-popping, bone-rattling viewing fun from the only place to be on a Rally – inside the car!
So, we decided to share. We’re going to edit down the footage and see if we can’t put some of it up on YouTube for you to have a look.
If you want to know more, pop back soon to find out our YouTube address, where you can see some clips of what we got from the weekend.
– Update –
Those nice folks over at Acceleration TV have used some of our in-car footage on the official RAC 2007 DVD.
